LEVMedical
Lev Medical was established in 2025 by three University of Michigan Ross classmates who combined their diverse backgrounds to address a critical gap in emergency and critical care medicine. The company is developing a modular system to treat cardiac arrest patients and manage post-resuscitation care—including a non-invasive circulatory support device and an advanced therapeutic hypothermia system— both protected by recent patents.
Co-founders Alex Shushunov (a former Special Operations Army medic and McKinsey associate), Sammy Nicolas (a healthcare-focused McKinsey consultant with an MBA from Michigan Ross), and Alexander Duncan (a biomedical engineer with over 14 years of experience, a U.S. Navy officer background, and leadership roles at McKinsey and aerospace innovator Supernal) bring a unique mix of clinical, technical, and strategic expertise to the venture. This combination of frontline medical insight, deep engineering knowledge, and business strategy experience makes the team highly capable of creating a transformative medical technology company.
